For Mattmac’s second album, his music would talk about growing up on the ‘Rez’ (reservation) in Manitoba, Canada… smoking, money and girls.
I was sent a few images to work with and decided to go with a scratched, old photo/negatives type look, for the front cover blending images of Mattmac in his bedroom and in the studio.
For the back cover, using the image of the ‘rez’, with its moody feel of isolation
As part of the album’s promotion, Mattmac and his team wanted to highlight each track with a description on Instagram, forming a collagé of squares:
Initially I was asked to use a different image of Mattmac, playing around with the title of the album, ‘Blurred Visions’ and in one case, creating a concept inspired by the subject matter… these concepts are definitely, in my opinion, not as strong as the final result… but an interesting part of the journey none-the-less.
