The Cree Nation of Mistissini hosted the first ever N’we Jinan Festival in 2016, bringing together various First Nations communities for a celebration of culture, music and creativity.
Tasked with creating something of an event brand, I started by taking the N’we Jinan logo I had originally designed and gave it a festival update, with marks at the top, bottom, left and right representing the directions the communities have travelled from, all tied up with a banner flourish.
…then came the save the date flyers and posters, shortly followed by printed collateral with further details of the event, including the artists performing.
I wanted to go for a classic, festival vibe with the artwork… featuring monochrome performers’ photos set over a bright, but grungy backdrop… finalised with a crowd cheering to give a feeling of excitement and scale.
The festival would also need a programme, so taking the supplied information I arranged various copy and imagery in a roll-fold hand-out…
Finally, I created various banners and signage along the same theme…
