Every year, EMBL host their Emerging Markets Benefit Ball event to raise money for the emerging markets across the world. 2011 featured the theme ‘Black & Gold’ for which I designed all of the event material, including; invite, e-ticket, 40 page programme, table plan, lanyard inserts, auction slips and various signage.
To give the event a sophisticated look and feel and to tie in with the black and gold theme, I researched various textures to use as a background for the assets, settling on leather to give a feeling of expense and extravagance to compliment the occasion being hosted at the up-market, Grosvenor House Hotel in London.
Typographically, I worked with serif fonts for a timeless and authentic feel, finishing off branding the event title with Black & Gold in Bickham Script and adding some custom flourishes for impact.
Physical invites, table plans, table numbers, programme cover and crew lanyards made use of gold foiling for the main Black & Gold ‘logo’. All other assets would be digitally or large format printed.
