{"id":71,"date":"2016-09-06T20:08:00","date_gmt":"2016-09-06T19:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nikhandson.co.uk\/?p=71"},"modified":"2026-11-02T21:33:08","modified_gmt":"2026-11-02T21:33:08","slug":"tu-clothing-x-goks-edit-september-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nikhandson.co.uk\/index.php\/2016\/09\/06\/tu-clothing-x-goks-edit-september-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Tu Clothing x Gok&#8217;s Edit"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Project Overview<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In September 2016, Tu Clothing continued its collaboration with stylist and television personality Gok Wan, who curated his own edit of selected pieces from the brand\u2019s Autumn collection.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My role was to design the campaign landing page, translating the existing Tu x Gok visual identity into an engaging digital experience that brought together fashion editorial, personality and product discovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project focused on creating a magazine-inspired layout that gave the edit a distinctive look and feel, while maintaining a clear connection to the Tu Clothing brand and its e-commerce experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Challenge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The challenge was to create a digital campaign that felt more like a fashion editorial than a conventional product listing, helping elevate the curated collection and communicate the thinking behind Gok\u2019s styling choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The page needed to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Build on the established Tu x Gok visual identity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Give the Autumn edit a distinctive, editorial-led presentation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Showcase the selected products as complete, considered outfits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bring Gok\u2019s personality and styling expertise into the experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Balance visual storytelling with the practical needs of an online retail audience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Early Design Thinking<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My initial thinking focused on how to bring the collaboration to life through a more editorial approach to digital design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rather than simply presenting a selection of products, I wanted the page to feel like a feature in a fashion magazine, giving the edit greater personality and creating a stronger visual narrative around the outfits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The existing Tu x Gok identity provided the foundation. I explored how its recognisable graphic elements could be used to frame and connect the featured pieces, creating consistency across the page while allowing the clothing to remain the main focus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Three principles guided the design:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Editorial storytelling<\/strong><br>Create a fashion-publication-inspired layout that gave the collection a more curated and considered feel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Brand consistency<\/strong><br>Extend the established Tu x Gok identity into the digital experience, using familiar graphic details to tie the content together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Personality and authenticity<\/strong><br>Incorporate elements of Gok\u2019s own voice and perspective to make the campaign feel personal to the collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Digital Campaign Design<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The landing page brought these principles together in a cohesive layout designed to showcase Gok\u2019s selected outfits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I used the distinctive corner graphics from the Tu x Gok logo to highlight individual items and visually connect the pieces within each look.
